Paneranian Sheep, a Poem by Dale Driscoll
Golden-fleeced
lamb bleats on the mesa,
Obbligato of wind and birdsong rises, Sweeps down arroyos toward our sleep. Love cannot know it is love until it separates. Though we rest under brilliant serape, Our bodies, skin on skin, as if one breath, I followed the dance of hoof beats elsewhere. I hear the lullaby of clouds again, and What was, is once more, in softest dream. |
