 Three Turtles at Twilight

Three turtles from darkness break free,
Rise up from mindlessness,
Turquoise heads toward a pale moon,
And sing a twilight air varie.
We touched where the heart is loneliest,
Where diversity chooses appearance,
Where reason cannot abide;
And love, for us, was highest relief
In evolution's cold backwaters.
