New Inspirations Exhibition, Aug/Sep 2004, Orange County California artist, Jeane Granada CouttsTribal tattoo designs covering the entire body led the Romans to name the aboriginal peoples of Scotland "The Picts" (Pictii) or The Painted People. Jeane Coutts has done two paintings featuring the Picts for her "New Inspirations" Summer Art Exhibition at the Green Door Gallery in the Artist Village, Santa Ana, California. Jeane also has done a series of paintings featuring landmarks and sites in the Santa Ana Artists' Village, and also a magnificent and large painting of the wild coastal horses of Assateague Island, Maryland. Tribal tattoo designs covering most of the body distinguished the Picts of Roman Scotland as demonstrated in this painting by Jeane Granada Coutts. Most of the artworks in the exhibition are available as limited edition giclee prints on canvas.
