Vajravarahi - Buddhist Goddess Artwork

Painting by Juan Coronado based on the Tibetan Buddhist Mandela, Vajravarahi, consort of Samvara. Vajravarahi is a goddess often invoked by monks newly initiated into Tantric meditation practices.

The red Vajravarahi was compared to the sow for her nurturing qualities, going so far as to imperil her own life in suckling her young.  She is considered the source of plenty and fruitfulness, and ready to aid in the quenching of desire. She appears in fearful forms with swords and spears guarding the gates to Nirvana.
