Cowboy Art
Cowboys are a rare thing these days; "real cowboys" that is.
Modern day and real cowboy, Tony Alvis, was a mule packer
who expertly guided small groups of people through the Los Padres National
Forest in California using his mules and horses. On January 10th,
2005, Tony Alvis was one of 10 people killed in a mudslide in the small
costal town of La Conchita in Southern California. (See below for location
map)
Ariki Art member,
McKenzie Birnie, was a
friend of Tony Alvis, and recently completed a painting of him in his
memory. The painting can be viewed below. While McKenzie is
keeping the original oil painting, she is offering giclee prints of this
classic western artwork honoring Alvis' cowboy spirit and love of the the
Los Padres National Forest.
The giclee prints are offered on high-quality archival
canvas or paper and include white border for framing and/or stretching.
Each edition is limited to 25, and each print is numbered and signed by
McKenzie Birnie. |
