Calendar Girls series, Max Emadi ties
together two of his latest bodies of work in an explosive dénouement. With
reference to the 72 virgins who are said to greet the Islamic martyr in heaven,
Emadi has painted a veiled Islamic woman reclining on a chaise lounge, holding
an AK47 and with her robe hitched up exposing a garter made of rifle rounds.
