This is the mid-section of the 3-section quilt "Te Ika a Maui" by Auckland Maori artist Ku Bailey.  This section illustrates Maui fishing up the North Island of New Zealand.  Maori mythology states that the canoe of Maui (Te waka a Maui) formed the South Island.
