Hinemoa is betrothed to an older man she neither knows nor loves. But she plans to elope with her true love, Tutanekai, who lives in the middle of Lake Rotorua on Mokoia Island. In the dark of the night Hinemoa is to swim to the island guided by the sound of Tutanekai's flute.
