"And a Pukeko in a Ponga Tree"

Appliqué Quilt

This fun quilt represents a take off of the traditional Christmas carol "And a Partridge in a Pear Tree".  The pukeko is a swamp hen from New Zealand that has in recent years become everyone's favorite ceramic garden piece, dispatching the garden gnome to the woodshed!  The ponga is the term for any of the tree ferns that blanket the landscape of New Zealand.
