American artist, 1943 - 2004
It
is with deep sadness that I must report that on the morning of Monday March
15th, Raymond Neher passed away peacefully at his home after a three year
battle with cancer. Throughout that period, Raymond inspired all of his
friends
with his heroic and positive attitude and determination to continue to say
"Yes" to life throughout his illness. Raymond had grown up with a
profound desire to be an artist and committed a large part of his life to
painting and print-making. Those who have collected his art over the
years will continue to treasure the works in their possession, while also
holding on to something that truly represents the essence of all that
Raymond wanted to be in life. The inspiration for Ariki Art originally
came from my love of Raymond's work and a desire on my part to promote it
for him. It is with regret that
Ariki Art is currently not able to offer the items displayed at ArikiArt.com
for sale, but it is my hope and the express wish of Raymond that I be able
to offer some of his remaining works upon settlement of his estate. -- John

Born in New Jersey in 1943, a graduate of
Carnegie Mellon University and Columbia University, Raymond Neher has lived
in California since 1973. A painter and a printmaker, his works on
canvas and paper have been exhibited in gallery and museum shows from coast
to coast and are included in private collections from Los Angeles to Rome.
During the past twenty-five years, he has created photo-realist roadscapes,
landscapes, and cityscapes while traveling the world from Interstate 5 in
California’s central valley to the fiords of the Straits of Magellan.
Since 1993 he also has turned his talents to recording the fanciful flora
and fauna and landscapes of the imaginary Republic of Cadatonia.
Raymond Neher offers a wide selection
of acrylic paintings and limited edition prints for sale. Raymond's
art is characterized by a meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a
photo-realistic effect. Many of his paintings are based on places he
has visited throughout the United States and the world. In an
extension of the landscape, Raymond completed a series of roadscapes based
on his road trips throughout the U.S.
Some of Raymond's limited edition
monoprints are based upon his fictional land of "Cadatonia". These
delightful monoprints feature the flora and fauna of Cadatonia.
