By which I mean that I do not endeavor to achieve this by a photographic resemblance, but by means of our impassioned expressions -that is to say, using our knowledge of and our modern taste for color as a means of arriving at the expression and the intensification of the character. So the portrait of Dr. Gachet shows you a face the color of an overheated brick, and scorched by the sun, with reddish hair and a white cap, surrounded by a rustic scenery with a background of blue hills; his clothes are ultramarine -this brings out the face and makes it paler, notwithstanding the fact that it is brick-colored. His hands, the hands of an obstetrician, are paler than the face. Before him, lying on a red garden table, are yellow novels and a foxglove flower of a somber purple hue."

Our artists, in lives dedicated to art and painting, have developed their own artistic styles and techniques.  Our artists will work from photographs (or sittings as can be arranged) but do not use any electronic imaging techniques like some other portrait artists do. Electronic imaging is a great aid to artists who wish to turn out portraits quickly and cheaply with photographic precision, however our artists have a passion and commitment to their life-long vocations in art and do not cut any corners when creating a fine art portrait for you.  Our artists are one with van Gogh in his words quoted above: "I do not endeavor to achieve this by a photographic resemblance, but by means of our impassioned expressions".  When you commission a fine art portrait from McKenzie or Jeane, what you are getting is a work of art, not a laser copy or Giclee print that is touched up or painted over.  You are not getting an emphasis on "photographic precision": your commissioned portrait will be a work of fine art in an age of mass-produced reproductions.
