P.J. FIDLER – "The Permutation Generator"

PJ Fidler's "The Permutation Generator" reflects the concept of metamorphism – sacrificing what you are to become something else. The paintings focus on life, love, sex and death and how each of these experiences transforms each one of us. Deeply influenced by his childhood surroundings in a small farm community in Central California, his art is an unfolding of nonlinear narratives.  Commonly comprised of animal imagery, landscapes and religious iconography, Fidler's work reflects his love of Flemish paintings, vintage children's books, and contemporary graphic design using mixed media on wood and canvas. The results, with their mixture of adolescent archetypes and the dark psychological aspects of the human condition, are often surreal, ambiguous, and yet very much familiar. Fidler studied illustration at the Pasadena Art Center College of Design and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. www.pjfidler.com

"P.J. Fidler's pieces are exercises in exuberance.  The macabre and the merry co-exist in a frenzy of color.  Such a treat." -- Pam Grossman, www.phantasmaphile.com

JASON HOUCHEN – "Fallen Trees Spread No Seeds"

Through his wood burnings, sculptures, mixed media and paintings, Jason Houchen fuses his Midwestern roots with his love of classical folk art, street art and pop surrealism. Spirits and spirituality, antiquity and memories freely flow from his extremely detailed works. "Fallen Trees Spread No Seeds" has a "how the west was stolen" theme, created with wood, a soldering iron, vintage cigar bands and stained glass. Describing himself as an "urban folk artist," Houchen's art is collected by artists and art dealers and can be found in the private collections of Liz McGrath, SHAG, Glenn Barr, Miles Thompson, Greg Escalante, Jan Corey Helford, Billy Shire and Annie Adjchavanich. Houchen received his BFA from the University of Missouri and is currently working on his masters and teaching in Illinois. www.jasonhouchen.com

GASOLINE: A ROCK & ROLL APOCALYPTIC FAIRY TALE

In a post-apocalyptic world, the search for precious gasoline pits a family of orphaned witches against conniving nihilists who lurk in the decaying urban sprawl. The family must learn to shed a life of materialism and adopt new, alternative means of living in order to survive. Written and illustrated by artist Dame Darcy, "Gasoline" is a fantastical and eco-conscious gothic tale of danger, heartbreak, and the perseverance of magic and love. "Gasoline" is published by Merrell Publishers, distributed by www.perseusdistribution.com.

DAME DARCY

Dame Darcy won a scholarship to the San Francisco Art Institute in 1989. There, she majored in film and animation, studying with George Kuchar, Kathy Acker, and others. During that time, she began self-publishing her long standing comic book "Meat Cake" which is on its 16th issue and is currently published by Fantagraphics Books. While in San Francisco, she toured with her first band Caroliner Rainbow and produced her first independent solo music releases. Darcy sings, plays banjo, electric bass and singing saw. In 1992, Dame Darcy moved to New York City where she began working as a freelance illustrator and cartoonist for the Village Voice, Jane Magazine, Paper Magazine, The New York Press and Rollerderby while designing for Anna Sui, Courtney Love and others. She has also participated in comics collaborations for Alan Moore's "Cobweb" series, DC Comics "Fairytale" series, the "Women in Comics" Compilation by Trina Robbins and has done animation design for MTV, Cartoon Network and various commercials. Dame Darcy has exhibited her fine art doing solo and group shows at the Richard Heller Gallery, Copro-Nasson, La Luz de Jesus Gallery and group shows in Bellweather Gallery, Milk Gallery, Gelatin in Austria, CWC in Tokyo, Comics Art Museum in San Francisco and many others. She will also be showing a "Gasoline" art exhibition at Burt Green Fine Art.

MALLEUS
Malleus is an artistic and graphic rock-devoted power-trio from Italy that creates handmade limited edition silkscreened posters for the celebration of gigs and events. Their work raises the visual side of Music to an Art level. The trio's catalogue represents an ongoing study of the female form with roots in mythology, folklore, Renaissance, Symbolism, and Neoclassicism, continuing all the way up to the modern, postmodern and contemporary periods. The idea of the Muse, a central artistic concept as long as history has been history, is the fulcrum of Malleus' poetics and aesthetics. Malleus' creative process involves different instruments and methods, but the manual art gesture remains their main cardinal point. Malleus has created posters for bands such as: Aphex Twin, Beck, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Beck, Blue Cheer, Blues Explosion, Brant Bjork, the Chemical Brothers, the Cure, Current 93, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Dresden Dolls, Flaming Lips, Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Mars Volta, Melvins, Motorpsycho, Monster Magnet, Mudhoney, Mark Lanegan, Nine Inch Nails, Om, The Prodigy, Sigur Ros, Queens of the Stone Age, Sex Pistols, Sonic Youth, Isis, Tool, Turbonegro, Ufomammut and many more. Malleus has been present in exhibitions from Atlanta to Philadelphia, from Roma to Rio de Janeiro, from Milano to Antwerpen. Several of their works are included in The Art of Modern Rock the gig poster bible by Paul Grushkin and Dennis King.

THE HAMMER OF GOD
The Hammer of God includes numerous Malleus gig posters (see above list), editorial illustrations and album covers. Comments are written by artists, collectors and friends including Paul Grushkin and Dennis King (The Art of Rock and the Art of Modern Rock), Firehouse, David Tibet (Current 93), Jermaine Rogers, Alan Forbes, Justin Hampton, Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls), Al Cisneros (Om), Brant Bjork, and many more. "The Hammer of God" is published by Supernaturalcat, $33 Euro, soft-cover, 112 pages, 23 x 33 cm, ISBN: 978-88-903692-0-9

The trio will be signing books and will also have limited edition prints for sale.
