My Boat

Oil Painting by Vakhtang Kakulia

Four paintings in all in this collection feature a boat as the central subject or in the background. Add to that a three paintings of fish, and one of a house by the sea and you get to realize that the sea features large in Vakhtang Kakulia's repertoire. Which seems odd in that his biography states that he was born in Tbilisi.

The painting uses pastel colors in the background, which is something I haven't seen in his paintings so far. The collage/patchwork composition however is a familiar aspect of his technique.
