The woman with jewelry in this portrait by
Raymond Neher is someone
called Pamela Babey. I don't know any details of her, but I
presume she was a friend of Raymond's. What we can tell from the
painting, however, is that it appears she was a woman who liked
to wear a fair amount of jewelry! She is dressed in black but
her top has a dotted pattern, and she is wearing a necklace that
appears to be made of ceramic, possibly American Indian. Behind
her on the wall is hanging a rug or blanket that also appears to
be American Indian, so let's conclude this was an interest of
hers. She wears a large stainless steel bracelet and several
rings, and of course, earrings. |
