This pooch has an eye for original art. Let him fetch you
some great original art at ArikiArt.com. (Annie Marquis thinks it's a

ArikiArt.com
is all about promoting original art for sale on behalf of up-and-coming
artists. You could say that ArikiArt.com is me, John Corney, and my artist
friends. I guess it all started way back in about 1980 or 1981 when I was
going to university in my native New Zealand (I now live in California).
That was when I bought my first piece of original art, a watercolor
called "Midsummer" by New Zealand artist Essie Hogarth-Gill, at an art
exhibition run by the Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington. I still have it
today. That was the last piece of original art that I bought from someone I
didn't know for a long time, as I started soon after buying a few pieces as
I could afford it from a friend, Mario Mazzorana. Of course, I have all
those pieces still too. (See Mario's
brightly colored splatter painting "Distractions"
and "his male nude painting "Bum") As time went by, I met more
artists and from time to time bought art from them. One of the things I
wanted most for my artist friends was for them to sell their art. For a
start, I thought it was good art, and that others would agree if they got to
see it. However, I noticed that my artist friends were often too busy
painting, or too humble or perhaps too reserved to promote their own art
vigorously. I guess this is one of the reasons why there are so many
starving artists!
Since moving
to the US in 1997, I have had the pleasure of meeting more artists. It was
in late 2001 that I thought I would like to do something about helping my
friend Raymond Neher promote his art.
I had met Raymond through a friend back in 1987 on my first visit to
California from New Zealand, and over time had bought several of his works
of art. Towards the end of 2001 Raymond and I discussed the idea of me
creating an online gallery to promote his art, and working in the software
industry, I guess it was only natural that I would think of using the
internet as the sales channel. (Yes, even geeks can love original art!) So
off I went, incorporated a company, and started building the ArikiArt.com
with Raymond's online art gallery
being the first of our online galleries to go live in April 2003.
Sadly,
Raymond died of cancer on March 15th, 2004. (Raymond
Neher obituary)
Another hope
I have is that the various artists'
online galleries at ArikiArt.com will
encourage more people to value good original art over mass-produced poster
art of well-known public-domain masterpieces. Truly exceptional original art
is often available at a reasonable cost from new artists or artists who just
haven't promoted themselves. My aim is to bring you some of these treasures.
All the artists exhibiting at ArikiArt.com have their art juried by myself
and several artists before it is accepted for inclusion.
Welcome to
ArikiArt.com online art galleries
and thank you for supporting our artists and their passion to create
original art.
Ariki Inc. is incorporated in the State of
California and supports artists by brokering the sale of their art.
The artworks displayed for sale in the artists'
online gallery on ArikiArt.com
are usually in the possession of the artist, and the artist will ship the
artwork to you. All sales are completed over a secure https
connection that encrypts all of your information. You can rest assured
that your information is safe with us! Upon receipt of your order, we
will notify the artist of your order, and they will package and ship you the
artwork. In those cases where the shipping charges are not indicated,
we will add the actual shipping charges to your credit card billing, or in a
subsequent billing once the shipping charges have been determined.
Unless otherwise stated, all shipping will be UPS or FEDEX Ground or where
appropriate, US Postal Service.
We take the risk out of purchasing original art by extending you the benefit
of a 7-day satisfaction guarantee. Enjoy your artwork in your home,
office, or place of work and if after 7 days you are not satisfied for any
reason at all, notify us that you are returning your artwork to its point of
origin. Upon receiving your artwork back in good condition we will
refund you the full cost of the artwork (excluding shipping charges).
Wondering where our name Ariki comes
from? It's actually the New Zealand Maori word for the tribal "chief". Since
we want to distinguish ourselves from the other online original art tribes
out there in Web Land, we couldn't think of anything better. (Besides, no
one else had taken it as a business name!)
